Taking some time off to redo and build up the new website. For the most part of at least the last two years, the Journey of a Story website has had the most love and attention.

Queen’s Birthday weekend is largely a time out period but there are lots of things to keep the Earthwire team busy still!

Learnt a lot about WordPress during this install but we are now up and running.

Even though we are kind of in a bit of ‘lay period’ at the moment, there’s still a lot happening at Earthwire HQ. Never ones for standing still for long, there are several things in the pipeline for the balance of 2012

On the slate:

Research and pre-prod for a documentary project
Pre-prod and design for Stella
DVD design and production for Journey of a Story

Plenty to keep us busy at any rate!

New Facebook group for Auckland props

We have a number of Art Department friends on face book who often post requests for things that they might need for a short film, music video or indie feature. We certainly know from shooting Journey of a Story how important ‘props networking’ can be especially if you can’t find/afford what you need at First Scene or whatever.

I’ve started a group called Auckland Props and Wardrobe – feel free to join up, and broaden your catchment net when you need stuff. This also means that item requests appearing in your news feed you can easily re-share.

Plus of course shortly I’m going to asking for a huge list of weird and wonderful things for Stella!

Regional cinema

Once upon a time every town in New Zealand had its own regional cinema. The advent of television, and then video, and then digital on demand and satellite services, contributed to the decline of the regional cinema.

It’s great to places like The Regent, and owner operator Allan Webb, who continue to run picture palaces with a true passion for film and movies in general.

Take a moment to check out their website, including the accumulation of picture memorabilia from around the country.

Journey of a Story will be screening at the regent in the coming months.
